Upscale accommodations, technology inspired facilities and first class recreation welcome visitors to the secluded Doral Eaglewood Conference Resort and Spa. The Prairie style resort sprawls over 106 acres about 35 minutes from Chicago in Itasca, Ill., near several major corporations. For fun, guests should check out one of the area's best wineries, Lynfred Winery, about four miles from the hotel, especially during its daily wine tastings. Complimentary shuttles ferry guests to locations within five miles of the hotel. Recreational enthusiasts will enjoy White Pines, Salt Creek and Highland Woods golf courses between eight and 12 miles from the resort. What's more, Moran Water Park seven miles south offers water slides, splash pools, lap pool, and sand volleyball court.
The relatively new resort and spa features an 18 hole golf course, conference center and two staffed business centers. The Doral's 10,000 square foot spa and fitness center comes complete with indoor driving range, six lane bowling alley, salon, sauna and massage services. At the hotel's restaurant, Burnham's, guests can relax in front of two fireplaces and floor to ceiling windows while enjoying contemporary American cuisine. The golf themed Prairie River Café specializes in Midwestern cuisine, while Ogden's, the lobby bar, serves up chocolate martinis and French cosmopolitans made with vodka, Grand Marnier, cranberry juice and lime. As in the words of Homer Simpson, "mmmmmmmm . . . chocolate martinis!" Meanwhile, guest rooms are awashed in dark reds, soft golds and rich greens, and feature Mission style furnishings, balconies, CD players, work desks, high speed Internet access, triple sheeted beds with boldly hued bedspreads, and bathrobes. Although the Doral Eaglewood Conference Resort and Spa is geared toward business travelers, they mingle with their leisure counterparts in the soaring lobby and on overstuffed couches perfect for relaxing by the stone fireplace.
